The Laager 21 family enjoyed a memorable Kliprivier Outspan from 26–28 June 2026, set against the festive backdrop of Tulbagh’s winter celebrations. The town was alive with Christmas decorations, tractor parades, and bustling markets, creating the perfect atmosphere for a weekend of camping and camaraderie.
Highlights included:
🎅 Friday Festivities – Members explored Tulbagh’s night tractor parade, enjoyed drinks at the market, and gathered back at camp for soup and fireside catch‑ups.
🍷 Saturday Adventures – Campers visited the Christmas market and sampled wines and bubbles at local wine farms. The evening brought together Laager 21 and Laager 15 members for Lesley’s birthday celebration, complete with malva pudding, brownies, cappuccinos, and hot chocolate around the fire.
🌧️ Sunday Wrap‑Up – Rain threatened, leading to an early indaba and fines session (which lasted longer than the meeting itself). Most packed up, while some stayed to enjoy more of the festival — only to wake up Monday in a swamp before drying out and heading home.
The newsletter also recorded minutes of the indaba, welcomed new members Marc and Nadir O’Connor, shared birthday wishes, and listed fines (a fun tradition with proceeds going to charity). Members were reminded of upcoming events, including the Birthday Outspan at AltydWater and the NAGM at Maselspoort in September 2026.
Despite the campsite needing improvements, the Kliprivier weekend was filled with festive cheer, wine, laughter, and the true spirit of Laager 21.
