Wouter Gerber has been in the 4x4 conversion industry for over ten years, wherever he is known, he is respected for both his technical abilities and his undisputed integrity.

In 2003 he established his current company Gerber's 4WD Accessories CC, he maintains an ongoing contract with Britz 4x4 Hire, Britz is Africa's largest and most prestigious 4x4 rental company, renting more vehicles per year than all their competitors combined, Gerber's custom converts their entire fleet. Their relationship is such that they actually have adjacent premises in Kempton Park!

Gerber's are both technologists and traditionalists, they stand for old fashioned hand fitted finishes and high technology fitments. Gerber's have been responsible for many industry adopted innovations. They specialise in custom solutions and not just standard bolt-on fittings. Gerber's have long established and proprietary relationships with select sub-contractors who manufacture specialist components for their conversions.

CSS is an adjunct to the Gerber's 4WD business, when customers invest in upgrading their leisure vehicles it's fairly obvious that they would both wish to spend extended periods in their vehicles and in addition wish to secure their investment. In common with most modern families cellular communication is a standard. For all these reasons it was a natural development for the company to develop in-house facilities and provide a more comprehensive service offering.

CSS is a specialist division which focuses on the installation of high tech security systems, sophisticated sound systems and cellular installations. In addition to the sound and security, CSS also provide expertise in the installation of the double battery and power management systems. CSS is managed by Dolf Gerber making this a solid family oriented concern. CSS is VESA approved and in addition has approval certificates from, TATA, KIA Motors and Daihatsu. There are years of depth in CSS, Dolf has provided technical support for the industry as a product specialist and has over ten years personal experience to call upon. His reputation has ensured a solid business footing for this sector of the business and in terms of a one stop solution has added great value to the organisation.

Big Five 4x4 Rentals
There are many folk who wish to get out into the bush, but don't have the luxury of an off-road vehicle to allow for weekends or holidays away in this manner. Gerber's have brought about a specialist division who's mission it is to provide some middle ground and accommodate this untapped market. Given their expertise in bush accommodation Big Five have fitted out an off-road trailer tent for the rental market. The equipment can only be described as flawless, anyone can with complete confidence drive into Big Five and hitch up their trailer and drive away for their holiday. Every conceivable situation has been catered for, from high lift jacks to a dust pan and brush to clean up with after supper. Accommodation is by way of two or four man rooftop tents mounted on the trailer, catering, safety and comfort have all been rationalised and accommodated within this superbly engineered package, equipped without compromise.

Facilities
The facility in Kempton Park is well positioned next to major arterial roads and the international airport. Their principle supplies are mostly sourced within a convenient thirty kilometre radius. Gerber's supply chains are simple and well proven over the many years of relationship they share with their supply partners. Gerber's custom built workshops have capacity for five custom conversions per week with their current workforce, this can be increased to seven with the recruitment of additional personnel. The workshops are situated on a 2350 square meter stand with workshops of 300 square meters and an additional 50 square meters of office space. Staffed by an experienced eight man technical team and supported by own transport and administrative personnel. The workshops are fully equipped in terms of welding (arc, argon and CO2) machining, pressing and finishing.

Gerber's is a well balanced blend of expertise and personal service. Even today the senior management is to be found on the workshop floor, if you want to speak to the boss it's most likely you'll do it via a cordless phone from somewhere inside the work in progress. Wouter Gerber is a man of old fashioned honour and as far as he's concerned, serving his clients is his first priority, for him this is best done in a hands-on way. These are the reasons Gerber's have developed the reputation that they have, no one seems to be able to find any reason to change that.
